AirWallet ApS is a mobile payment system for shared laundries. Today the company based in Odense, Denmark has 13 employees and operates in more than 15 countries.
After the idea for the cashless payment solution for laundromats was born in 2017, the founders of Airwallet were looking for a company to develop their product and get it to market as fast as possible. The EKTOS group of companies could help. EKTOS has developed a controller with Bluetooth control for the product while TECHTO produced prototypes, first series, and later ramped up the mass production to line up with Airwallet’s customers’ demand.

At the moment EKTOS continues to support the product by updating the design during the product’s life cycle. For example, when facing the issue of shortage of electronic components as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, EKTOS found a solution by redesigning the controller. That helped to improve its manufacturability but also resulted in BOM cost optimization by approximately 20%. At the same time, TECHTO was able to adjust its production line in a way that the process of changing product versions happens smoothly.
TECHTO is proud to host the production of Airwallet in our factory in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, and appreciates the customer’s trust to place the first as well as all the following orders with us despite the risks that the war brings to the country.
We also appreciate the willingness of Airwallet’s founder and owner, Christian Mortensen, and one of his colleagues, to visit our production site in September 2022.
Airwallet is satisfied with the cooperation with EKTOS and TECHTO that together were able to develop the Airwallet device within a short amount of time, maintain product cost on a competitive level and support its manufacturability over the years. Today there are more than 3000 Airwallet boxes installed and active worldwide.
