EKTOS TRS Broadens Accreditation Portfolio with IACS UR E10, IP22 Test, and Shock Test

EKTOS TRS Broadens Accreditation Portfolio with IACS UR E10, IP22 Test, and Shock Test

EKTOS Testing and Reliability Services (TRS) broadens its accreditation portfolio yet again. This is part of its ongoing effort to keep assisting manufacturers and stakeholders to meet the stringent regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Firstly, the test lab has obtained accreditation for the newest version of the widely accepted marine testing standard IACS UR E10, revision 9 (Aug 2023). Revision 9 of IACS UR E10 is set to be uniformly implemented by IACS Societies for equipment seeking type approval certification with an application date on or after July 1, 2024. This latest version of the standard incorporates updated requirements and guidelines to enhance the testing and certification process for maritime equipment.

For manufacturers and companies seeking type approval certification for maritime equipment, TRS’ accreditation to IACS UR E10 Rev.9 offers assurance of comprehensive and compliant testing services, enabling them to navigate the certification process with confidence and peace of mind.

Secondly, TRS’ portfolio now includes the IP22 test and shock test up to 1000 m/s2, at 6 ms half-sine pulses. IP22 testing, also known as Ingress Protection testing, assesses the degree of protection provided by enclosures against the ingress of solid foreign objects and water.

This accreditation demonstrates our capability to conduct rigorous testing to ensure that products meet the specified IP22 protection requirements. Whether it’s electronic devices, outdoor equipment, or industrial machinery, TRS’ IP22 testing services can help manufacturers verify the durability and resilience of their products in challenging environments.

In addition to IP22 testing, TRS has also been accredited for high-level shock testing which evaluates a product’s ability to withstand sudden mechanical impacts during transportation, handling, or operation. By subjecting products to controlled shock pulses, TRS can identify potential weak points and help manufacturers design more robust and reliable products.

According to Henrik Brosbøl, Managing Director at EKTOS TRS, “Our goal is to empower our clients to meet regulatory requirements, ensure product quality, and ultimately achieve success in their respective industries. We continually expand our capabilities and accreditation scope. This helps us assist clients seeking to validate their products’ performance and durability, giving them the highest level of confidence and assurance in their quality and performance. Manufacturers can trust us to deliver accurate and actionable insights that drive product excellence and customer satisfaction”.
