LED iBond
The convergence of lighting and IT
December 14, 2018
Company
LED iBond produces innovative LED panels designed to integrate lighting with IoT solutions. Their signature “sandwich” system features an LED sandwiched between two aluminum composite panels, achieving a slim profile of just 6 mm. This design enables the creation of a common infrastructure for Internet of Things (IoT) applications in buildings.
Challenge
As LED iBond sought how to adapt to a fast-changing market, the challenge was to combine traditional lighting design with advanced IT capabilities.
The company recognized the necessity of working alongside specialists in electronics and IT to improve product offerings and meet the ever-increasing demands for smart buildings and connected environments.
Solution
To address this challenge, LED iBond partnered with EKTOS, a company renowned for its expertise in HVAC controls and wireless connectivity.
LED iBond introduced Tracy, an IoT-enabled LED panel designed for smart buildings. Tracy is highly customizable, easy to assemble, and capable of powering various electronics, including USB ports and IoT sensors for monitoring temperature and moisture. This integration creates a flexible IoT infrastructure suitable for various building applications.
EKTOS contributed significantly to this project by designing the driver for the 2,350 shelves in a prominent library, enabling users to control lighting features through a central unit or a smartphone app.
Furthermore, EKTOS has taken on the responsibility of testing and approving LED iBond products, serving as a trusted external quality assurance partner. Their accreditation by the national Danish accreditation body, DANAK, has increased LED iBond’s credibility with major clients.
